Sliding Door Track Repair Done Right

Most sliding doors can be repaired — and your sliding door track is no exception.

Over time, dirt, corrosion, seized, frozen, and worn-out rollers will damage your track in different ways, from dents, grooves, and gouges in the metal, making the door jump, wobble, and or stick.

At Quality Sliding Door Repair, we handle track repairs, replacements, and resurfacing for all types of sliding glass patio doors. We carry all the necessary styles of track right on our service vans, so we can fix your track issues on the spot.

If you’re unsure what kind of door track you have, just text us a few pictures of your door — a couple of the track area, and one of the door handles from inside of your home. The door handle works like a car emblem for us, letting us know the brand of door. Once we have the pictures, we'll let you know exactly what’s going on and what it’ll take to fix it.

How We Fix Sliding Door Tracks

Every door is a little different, but the process is straightforward.
Here’s how we handle most sliding door track repairs in Santa Clarita and nearby areas:

  1. Inspect & Identify the Track Type
We start by checking your door and your track’s type and condition. We’ll review and identify any damage, any visible dents, grooves, and areas where the rollers are causing damage and issues.
  2. Remove the Door & Damaged Track
Once we’ve confirmed the issue, we remove the door carefully to access the track. If it’s cracked, bent, or peeling up, or laying down, we’ll take it out completely as needed.
  3. Resurfacing
If your track only has minor nicks, or minor damage and we don’t need to remove and replace your track, we can move to resurfacing your track. In this situation or case, we’ll start out by cleaning and degreasing the track and track area removing all debris from the entire area. Next, we’ll sand and smooth out the top of the track and remove any of the small imperfections and knicks. If there are any deeper divots, or knicks we’ll file these down to create a smooth, clean, even surface for your door to glide on and ensure a smooth glide.
  4. Install the Correct Replacement Track
We install one of three main track styles depending on your door type:
    • Steel Track Cap: This is a thin steel cap that is installed over the old vinyl track bead. These are only necessary and installed on a couple of specific brands of doors.
    • Snap-In Track: Common on vinyl doors like Milgard. These “Christmas tree” shaped tracks snap securely into the track frame and are very sturdy, and reliable.
    • Steel Screw-Down Track Cap: Our go-to option for long-lasting performance. These solid steel tracks are anchored into the frame every few feet. These tracks are very durable and strong enough to outlast the door itself. Ideal for older aluminum doors, such as Croft, Fleetwood or Guaranteed brand.

  1. Test, Adjust & Finish
After reinstalling your door, we make sure it rolls easily, smooth and quiet, just like it was new (or even better). We always confirm full operation and request the client to “Test Drive” their new door! The smiles on our customers’ faces when they test drive their newly restored sliding door is what we live for.

Common Sliding Door Track Problems We See:

  • Grooved or “rollercoaster” tracks: Caused by frozen rollers grinding into the track.
  • Flattened or collapsed track sections: Usually from old vinyl tracks falling over due to seized rollers or debris in the track area.
  • Rust, corrosion, or dirt buildup: Common on all types of doors and tracks.
  • Door keeps jumping off track: Usually worn track and or seized/flattened rollers.

No matter what your track looks like, it’s fixable — we either repair, cap, or replace the track entirely, depending on its condition. We can restore your door!

Yes, almost every track can be repaired or replaced. We carry parts for all door types and can identify your track easily via photos, just text us.

Absolutely. The track is an independent piece and can be removed, replaced and swapped out without replacing the entire door or the glass panels. We restore doors, we don’t even sell new doors.

Get your estimate instantly! Text us photos of your door and we'll send you an estimate. The final price varies by door size and track type, but rest assured, repairing the track is far more affordable than buying a new door.

Yes, we can repair or replace sliding screen door tracks as well — though we mainly focus on the main sliding glass door systems. That being said, we definitely handle sliding screen door track repairs as well. We always carry the replacement vinyl sliding door tracks on our mobile service vans.

If your door sticks, grinds, jumps, or drags along — or if you can see visible grooves or dents — your track likely needs resurfacing or replacement.
